Recycling policy change - recycling must fit in a curbside compliant can.
On April 1, 2026 - item 5a, the Sheldon City Council approved two ordinances to help improve the recycling process in our community. Enforcement to begin 7/1/26. To summarize:
- Ordinance O26-3306: AN ORDINANCE AMENDMENT PERTAINING TO ILLEGAL DUMPING.
- Ordinance O26-3307: AN ORDINANCE AMENDMENT REQUIRING RECYCLABLE ITEMS THAT ARE PLACED CURBSIDE FIT IN COMPLIANT CANS. (See also 5/6/26 contract amendment with De Kruif).
- August 1, 2026 Rates (increase of 35 cents per month).
Reminder: The downtown recycling container is at De Kruif’s yard: 300 N 2nd Ave (north of the Super 8 on Pine St). Please do not place items on the ground. The box is for in town residential customers only. We ask that it not be used for businesses or out of town residents.
